Winners

I've been around this block before,
I swear it's going to be the same,
WIth you as the others.

My past hasn't been an easy one,
Nor has yours.
But you have the upper hand.

So when I turned to say,
Here's how it'll end,
You stop me.
To say,

"It's about time,
You had something good.
After all those winners."

And for the first time,
In a long time,
I smile.

Lime

Trust makes her lose inhibitions,
As well as a bottle of Jose,
She'll go out to have a good time,
Just taking shots with a lime.

She makes mistakes,
She knows that,
But she doesn't care.
Life's lessons, taken with salt.

Her friends are always there,
She's the one person
That they count on,
When their life's in despair.

She'll make life choices,
But be true to herself.
As ultimately she knows,

She wouldn't want to be someone else.

Rival

To be honest,
When she walks in,
And brightens the room,
Don't pretend you didn't notice her.

You've inflicted pain,
And now you'll see,
Just how amazing,
She really is.

She'll hide the pain,
And make her mistakes.
Her cards will fall,
Where they may.

She'll carry on,
Life's too great,
To get caught up,
From your stupid games.

She's a definition of class,
But there's a side of her,
You never saw and now,
The whole world will see.

The true rival to your new queen.

Scene

I don't get it,

No matter what I say,
You deem it untrue.

I could choke on the words,

Because you let the past,

Resolutions

We all make promises to ourselves,
Ones we intend to keep.
Ones we end up breaking.

We promise ourselves,
We'll kick the bad habit.
We'll not lie to those we care about.

Resolutions are made yearly,
But we neglect to see,
That they cost us dearly.

I resolve to do what I feel,
To do what is right,
By my standards.

I resolve to stand up.
To believe, to fight.
For what I want.

These resolutions I made,
Will cost me dearly.
I just don't neglect to see it.
